Co-Founder of The Second Cup
In the early ‘70s, Tom Culligan was the first person to look at an ordinary cup of coffee and see a goldmine – the result was a coffee shop that he co-founded with Frank O’Dea called The Second Cup. Over the course of the next 15 years, Tom’s little notion grew into a nation-wide chain of 150 stores which stretched from coast to coast. Currently there are 286 stores across Canada. His phenomenal success set the standard for what turned into a booming industry that swept the continent.
